Position Summary:
Job Summary
The Administrative Director of the Susquehanna University Health Center provides clinical and administrative leadership of medical service. Additionally, the Director is responsible for evaluating staff for performance, and polices within the Health Center; coordinates and ensures that the service provides high quality care in compliance with Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC), best practices, state and federal statutes.
Specific Responsibilities
- Directs Health Center's administrative operations, and
establish, review, and update policies and procedures, including
all safety, compliance, and risk management policies and
applications.
- Serves as the University liaison in implementing and monitoring
the health care partnership with the Geisinger Medical
Center.
- Assess student health and wellness needs and explore and
implement innovative practices to deliver high quality and
efficient programs and services that address those
needs.
- Organizes and leads strategic planning efforts for Health
Center, including ongoing strategic assessment, gap analysis, and
benchmarking to support implementation of Health Center priorities
and ensure alignment with the divisional strategic plan.
- Proposes and manages the Center's budget.
- Supervises and evaluates the Health Center staff and the
student staff (receptionists, drivers), including scheduling and
orientation to responsibilities.
- In partnership with the Lean Nurse, establishes, reviews and
updates policies, procedures and protocols that follow best
practices, are evidence based and are consistent with standards
established by AAAHC.
- Presents information about the Health Center operations to
parents and prospective students and coordinates the acquisition
and review of health records for new students.
- Responsible for student health benefit services.
- Collects and maintains Center statistics, does year-end totals
and annual report, and sets goals for the following
year.
- Monitors statistics and trends in the occurrence of
communicable illnesses both on-campus and off campus.
- Partners with the Dean of Health & Wellness on outreach
wellness and prevention programs.
- Develop a program to support employee health initiatives
including pre-employment screening and immunizations as
needed.
- Maintains AAAHC accreditation status, update practices as
required, ensures continuous quality management and improvement in
all Health Center programs and services.
- Coordinate departmental preparation for the response to
critical incidents and public health threats on campus, including
management of and effective communication about public health
issues.
- Develops, evaluates and participates in QI/QA studies and
internal and external benchmarking.
- Responsible for the student health benefit services.
- Performs regular nursing duties and participates in on-call as
needed.
Required Qualifications:
Education and Experience
Master of Science in Nursing, Master of Arts in Health, or Related field with five years of experience as a nurse in a primary care setting with experience supervising, scheduling, and evaluating staff required OR Bachelors of Science in Nursing or related field with seven years of experience as a nurse in a primary care setting with experience supervising, scheduling, and evaluating staff required. Pennsylvania RN license or License-eligible required.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Knowledge of English Language including meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition and grammar; Knowledge of Microsoft Office, general office equipment, variety of medical equipment and Epic Software; Knowledge of budget preparation and management; Strong problem solving skills and analytical skills to analyze complex information or problems in an objective manner; Exceptional organizational skills to work on multiple projects with competing deadlines and to establish goals and workload priorities; Ability to set priorities and advocate team concepts, work collaboratively with faculty and staff; Ability to think strategically with experience balancing policy and practice; Ability to promote patient education and clinical outreach materials; Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion; and knowledge of electronic medical records systems.
Physical Demand
Position requires the ability to stand or sit for long periods of time and to move about the campus. Position requires the ability to talk and hear instruction. Position requires manual dexterity and the ability to use fingers, hands, and arms to feel, handle and reach. Position requires walking, standing, stooping, crouching, kneeling and bending. Position requires the ability to lift 50 lbs. when assisting a student, carry a 25 lb. emergency bag during emergency responses.
