Position Summary:
The Associate Director of LGBTQIA+ role will focus primarily on student retention, the student experience and student development from admission to graduation. This will be executed through the implementation of programs, initiatives and policies that uplifts a sense of belonging, advocates for, celebrates global cultures and ensures a safe space for underrepresented students to refresh and renew, while driving a global mindset that prepares students to be competitive in a diverse world economy.

This position will also oversee campus-wide LGBTQ Initiatives and use the Campus Pride Index among other tools to ensure that EKU has best practices in place for LGBTQ inclusion.


Minimum Education:
Master’s Degree in Student Personnel Services, Higher Education Administration, Social Work, or in a related field is preferred.


Minimum Experience:
Three to five years’ experience working in a university multi-cultural center or student life department advocating and programming for LGBTQIA+ students; Demonstrated ability to work with diverse students. Specific knowledge of sexual orientation and gender identity, and issues of concern for the LGBTQIA+ community.

Plans, coordinates and executes programs, initiatives and experiences that celebrate the culture, contributions and richness of underrepresented students to the campus community.
Attends to the needs of underrepresented students by fostering allyship amongst and between underrepresented student populations, advocating and effectively communicating for them, ensuring these students have the resources to thrive at the University and
Collaborates with the EKU community and community partners to support the full college experience of students; including support for student orientation, career education, celebrating the culture and future of underrepresented students, and implementing a
Support and participate in the recruitment of underrepresented students to the university through community connections and collaboration with departments that lead recruitment efforts.
Support office functions by completing all other duties and special projects as assigned.
