Job Description
Lord Fairfax Community College (LFCC) seeks applicants for a full-time 9-month faculty position to provide leadership and instruction for the Administration of Justice program. Reporting to the Dean of Professional Programs, the successful candidate will work with constituents from across the college and community to support students as they come to understand Administration of Justice as a dynamic and rapidly changing field. The faculty member will help shape the direction of the program and will use multiple methods of instruction, assessment results, and appropriate instructional technologies to engage students in learning and self-development activities geared toward student success, retention, and completion. 

The ideal candidate will teach in traditional and non-traditional settings, including hybrid and/or online courses, which may be in a variety of formats and lengths. This candidate will facilitate student learning and development activities outside the classroom (e.g., internships, student research, clubs, and experiences for students in the community, etc.).

The candidate will collaborate in the development of new course curriculum, degrees, certificates, and training as appropriate that align with the direction of the Administration of Justice program and the School of Professional Programs. The candidate will strengthen and expand relationships and partnerships with K-12, higher education, industry, and community organizations in support of the college mission, vision, and values. LFCC is looking for a faculty member with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in service, innovation, student success, and integrity in the performance of job duties. The candidate may be assigned to teach at all LFCC locations as well as evening and/or weekend classes.

Compensation and Benefits
Faculty Positions: The minimum salary for the position is $43,776.00 per year, however, actual starting salary will commensurate with education and/or experience. The position is a 9 month faculty role and as such is eligible for the benefits package offered by the Commonwealth of Virginia for state agencies and the Virginia Community College System. Fiscal year 2020 was one of the strongest years for higher education in state budget recent history. LFCC ranks 8 out of Virginia’s 23 Community Colleges in the amount of performance based funding received.

LFCC continues to prepare for the future; our facilities and campus improvement projects include new construction of the Luray Page County Center in Luray, VA as well as the anticipated Hazel Hall Building at our Fauquier Campus in Warrenton, VA.

Lord Fairfax Community College, located in the Northern Shenandoah Valley is accepting applications for adjunct, part-time faculty (day, evening and weekend) positions for Adjunct Faculty. Positions are appointed on a course-by-course, semester basis as needed. Responsibilities include teaching college level courses, which may include distance learning on and off campus courses during the day, evening and weekends.

KSA's/Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in the teaching field (i.e.: Criminal Justice or Admin of Justice) OR a Master’s degree with a minimum of 18 graduate credits in the teaching field.
  • Understanding of and commitment to the community college philosophy.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in Criminal Justice or closely related field from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Demonstrated verified paid work experience at an organization in criminal justice or closely related field.
  • Demonstrated effective written, oral communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience with helping students develop critical thinking and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach using technology in the classroom and/or online course delivery.
  • Experience creating community connections and fostering experiential learning opportunities.
  • Documented experience with college-level teaching and/or training instruction in the field of criminal justice or administration of justice.
  • Experience utilizing a collegial team approach in collaborating with students, faculty, staff, and the community. 
  • Demonstrated commitment to the development of students who are culturally responsive in the field of criminal and administration of justice.
