The Ocean and Earth Sciences (OES) Department at Old Dominion University (ODU) in Norfolk, VA, in association with the Center for Coastal Physical Oceanography (CCPO), seeks to fill a postdoctoral research associate position for investigating different mapping/reconstruction approaches for sea level as measured by a combination of tide gauges and saltmarsh records over the last ~300 years. The position will focus on the integration of ancillary datasets from hydrographic profiles, sea surface temperature, cryospheric and hydrological fingerprints, ocean models and vertical land motion estimates and the development of probabilistic frameworks considering the inherent uncertainties in each of these components. The envisaged project will contribute to the ongoing cycle of the NASA Sea Level Change Team. The ideal candidates have to demonstrate a strong background in sea level research in general and experience in using and analyzing ocean model outputs and large observational datasets.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Oceanography, Coastal Engineering, Earth System Science, Climate Studies, or related fields. The initial appointment is for one year with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and available funding.
