S/he has deep knowledge of pre-production planning, production management and post-production with Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects and Photoshop. S/he is familiar with the technical requirements of social media and mobile-first platforms with proven experience in both short-form and mid-form videos in a range of styles, for marketing and public relations. The position also leads and mentors a skilled multimedia team and group of student workers. The successful candidate is a driving force behind our current multimedia team – helping craft and assign innovative and creative pieces to support news coverage; philanthropy; government and industry relations; thought leadership; and brand awareness. Reporting to the Executive Director of Digital Strategy in Information Technology, s/he collaborates with the Enrollment Marketing and Digital Strategy department and campus and university leadership to execute comprehensive marketing and communications efforts that integrate multimedia in a strategic and meaningful way.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Lead the day-to-day management of video production for all digital channels, working collaboratively with other team members and external freelancers, ensuring that photography and video resources are dedicated to the university’s highest priorities. Supervise, evaluate and mentor department staff, student workers and freelancers.

  • Develop themes for multi-faceted projects and individual concepts and determine appropriate mediums and effective use of resources. Write provisional scripts, incorporate feedback and edit accordingly. Communicate appropriately with the team and stakeholders throughout all phases of project, tracking work and coordinating assigned projects to achieve successful results.

  • Film interviews with university administrators, alumni, students, faculty, staff and other supporters. Produce and edit in-house videos, including but not limited to social media videos, b-roll packages, short interviews and special marketing and philanthropy campaign videos.

  • Oversee work product and project management for multimedia producers and student workers.

  • Work with executive director to develop annual team budget and determine ongoing equipment and software needs.

  • Identify professional development opportunities for staff and obtain appropriate team training as needed.

  • Stay current on trends and relevant innovations in creative campaigns, video and marketing.

  • Excellent script-writing ability and strong editorial and storytelling skills.
  • Experience with video color correction and sound mixing.
  • Experience sourcing and hiring film crews and additional vendors for special projects when needed.

  • Understanding of public relations and marketing storytelling to write scripts, craft interview questions and actively engage with subjects.
  • Ability to multitask and determine priority projects/assignments.
  • Ability to think critically and independently and inspire staff and colleagues.
  • General interest and dedication to the mission of Embry-Riddle.
  • Ability to maintain the highest degree of confidentiality.
