A research Assistant Scientist position is available in the Division of Nephrology, Hypertension, and Renal Transplantation at the University of Florida, College of Medicine in Gainesville, Florida. The ideal candidate is an energetic, motivated, and highly skilled Ph.D. in Data Science, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Industrial Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or an equivalent field. A candidate with hands-on experience with large-scale high-dimensional predictive analytics, probabilistic graphical models such as Dynamic Bayesian Network models, deep learning models, and reinforcement learning is desired.

The PRISMA-P research group is interested in a candidate who will work on a wide range of topics in medical informatics and data science in healthcare with a current focus on developing artificial intelligence platforms for augmented decision-making in healthcare. The candidate will work on applying cutting-edge techniques in machine learning and deep learning to develop intelligent, accurate, and robust systems that serve to improve patient care in perioperative environments. The candidate will work on annotation and adjudication of all electronic health records datasets for clinical outcomes and data standardization and harmonization. The candidate will assist in the development of projects such as capturing high-frequency ICU data, the development of clinical trajectory prediction, and the implementation of algorithms in the OneFlorida Consortium. The candidate will lead Ph.D. and Master students in all research activities related to developing sensing, deep learning algorithms, data optimization, and physiologic time series data. Research activities will also involve intelligent perioperative systems and data analysis, development and maintenance of the intelligent cloud platform and database, and federated learning. The candidate will write progress reports and contribute to research manuscripts. The successful candidate will have access to many opportunities for collaborative research at one of the top medical schools in the USA.

Programming proficiency in some languages is required (e.g. Python, R, SAS, Java, C). Strong communication skills, analytical and multi-tasking skills, and a dedication to teamwork are essential for this position.

Salary is negotiable, commensurate with education and experience.

Ph.D. in Data Science, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Industrial Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or an equivalent field.
