Assistant Teaching Professor (non-tenure track) in Graphic Design. Full-time; renewable subject to budget and satisfactory annual evaluations. Competitive salary with full benefits. Duties include: Teach undergraduate Art Foundations and introductory Graphic Design courses. Maintain creative research and professional involvement. Participate in graphic design curriculum development, advising graphic design majors, and educational and professional activities within the School, College and the University. Minimum qualifications: MFA, MDes or MGD in Graphic Design, Visual Communication Design, or similar degrees (visual communication design, experience design, interaction design); College-level teaching experience (beyond TA) in established professional BA or BFA graphic design program; at least three years of professional experience as graphic designer or ongoing professional practice; demonstrated expertise in both print and digital environments, one or more of the following: Motion/Time-based Design, Information/Visualization Design, Emerging Media (Interaction/Experience Design: XD, UI/UX), Integrative Design, Design Thinking, or Social Design, as shown in the portfolio, student examples, CV and teaching statement; Knowledge of the Macintosh operating system, and experience with current Design Standard version of Adobe Creative Suite, especially Adobe After Effects, intermediate-to-advanced proficiency with web programming (HTML5.1/XHTML/CSS3) and software are required, as shown in the portfolio, student examples, CV and teaching statement. Preferred Qualifications: Advanced experience in Motion/Time-Based design, defined as at least three years of teaching or professional experience; Awareness and understanding of, and appreciation for the practical and theoretical issues and methodologies surrounding graphic design, both in print and digital environments; knowledge of the history of graphic design as shown in the portfolio, student work, conference papers/presentations, teaching or design statement; Demonstrated continuous commitment to social responsibility and advocacy as they relate to design and visual communication as shown in the portfolio, student work, conference papers/presentations, and teaching and design philosophy statement; Experience in curriculum development or teaching of online courses; Experience in collaborative or community engagement projects; Experience in digital communications, social media, marketing, advertising.
