Job Description:

UTeach-Liberal Arts at the University of Texas at Austin invites applications for a Full-Time Clinical Assistant Professor.

Purpose of the Position:

Teach, develop and coordinate training of beginning UTeach-Liberal Arts students in the College of Liberal Arts seeking social studies, English, and Language other than English certification.

Essential Functions:

Teaching and supervising undergraduate and post-baccalaureate students in Introduction to Teaching Middle School course and experiences related to field-based teacher development. Primary responsibilities include teaching a field-based course that students take in pursuit of certification, supervising students' field placements and internships, recruiting cooperating teachers, and working with local area public school teachers who act as mentor teachers. Serve as one of two instructors in the pre-professional development sequence. Coordinate with team members to help prioritize and organize topics and materials for the pre-professional courses and vertically align curriculum. Additional duties will include student mentoring, outreach to schools, committee participation, and other programmatically related tasks, goals, and initiatives. Work with UT faculty, staff, and academic advisors to implement program.


Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree. Must hold teacher certification. Twelve years of experience teaching in middle school or high school, as administrator, or evaluator in EC-12 settings with preference for public school experience. Experience developing academic curriculum and using of educational technology. Excellent interpersonal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's Degree or PhD. Training and experience in social emotional learning and trauma informed instruction. Active participation in professional organizations and activities. More than above stated qualifications
