Assistant Professor, Digital Arts. Full-time, tenure-track. Competitive salary with full benefits. Start date: August 23, 2021. Duties include: Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Digital Arts; participate in educational, professional and technical duties and activities within the Digital Arts division and in the School of Art. Minimum qualifications: MFA or terminal degree in Digital Arts, Animation, Media Arts, or a similar field (e.g., Art and Technology, Interactive Arts, Kinetic Arts, Sequential Arts, Cinematic Arts); At least one year of college-level teaching experience (including being a TA) in art or related areas (e.g., Design, Technology, Media Production, Computer Science); Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of 2D and 3D animation as exemplified by Sample Portfolio; Demonstrated experience with 3D modeling and animation software such as Autodesk Maya, Adobe CC, Pixologic ZBrush, and other Autodesk products as exemplified by Sample Portfolio. Preferred Qualifications: At least two years of college-level teaching experience as the Instructor of Record in Digital Arts or Animation; at least two years of experience working on creative production in the animation or gaming industry; expertise with 3D and 2D animation and also in one or more of the following areas: 3D modeling, visual FX, stopmotion, motion graphics, concept / visual development, storyboarding, compositing, game design, video, interactive art, programming, physical computing or installation art as exemplified by Sample Portfolio; experience teaching and advising graduate students; research, exhibition, production or professional involvement record (online or in-person conference presentations, publications, festival exhibition, client-based work, gallery exhibitions, or within emerging fields such as community activism and social media publications) at the national level. Also include in the Sample Portfolio a second PDF file with 10-15 links to animations, games, or images of student work with a short statement describing the assignment criteria (if applicable).
