The Associate Dean for Applied Research and Development will be responsible for strategic planning focused on executing applied research and development initiatives for the college, to include: growing research expenditures and infrastructure; oversight and direction of faculty research, grants, & contracts; supporting research-intensive faculty hires and retention; developing capacity for high-impact undergraduate and graduate research experiences that increase retention and prepare students equitably for careers in their fields; promoting research communications and marketing efforts, and fostering collaborations with academia, industry, government, non-profits, and local, state, national, and international organizations. In addition to being a college of the University of Arizona, CAST operates as a branch campus and is located in Sierra Vista, Arizona. The Associate Dean for Applied Research and Development will work closely with CAST leadership to build a strong team of culturally diverse faculty and staff who are committed to preparing traditional, post-traditional, and transfer students for success in a 21st-century workforce.
This position requires a self-directed individual with excellent oral and written communication skills; with experience in strategic planning, project team facilitation, and the successful pursuit of grants and awards; with the ability to be forward-thinking in anticipating funding opportunities; and with a commitment to excellence, collaboration, and creativity.
The Associate Dean position reports directly to the Dean of the College of Applied Science and Technology. The Associate Dean for Applied Research and Development is a Tenured Faculty appointment at the level of Associate Professor or Professor in the College of Applied Science and Technology with an Administrative Component. The Associate Dean may supervise office support staff.
