Assistant Dean of Diversity and Student Life

New York, New York

Weill Cornell Graduate School is seeking interested candidates for the role of Assistant Dean of Diversity and Student Life. The Assistant Dean will co-direct the Office of Student Diversity at Weill Cornell Medicine and direct the NIH-funded Initiative to Maximize Student Development (IMSD) and Esprit de Corps Peer Mentoring programs. This position is integral to WCGS’s mission to enhance diversity, equity and inclusion through the academic pipeline from graduate students to graduate faculty and sits on both the Graduate School leadership team and the WCM Executive Committee for Diversity and Inclusion with the College’s other Diversity Deans. This role provides administrative leadership to several of the Graduate School’s marquee diversity initiatives, including the Social Justice and Anti-Racism Task Force, an active group comprised of students, faculty, and staff dedicated to supporting racial equity and social justice inside and outside of the Graduate School, the Trainer-Learner Committee which investigates issues of student mistreatment in collaboration with the Office of Institutional Equity, and serves as the director of the ACCESS Summer Research Program for college students interested in pursuing a PhD degree in the biomedical sciences. The Assistant Dean plays a pivotal role in the recruitment and retention of URIM candidates to the Graduate School’s Masters and doctoral degree programs.
