The Administrative Coordinator plays an integral role in the Bowdoin Residential Life professional team. They manage reception in a high traffic, student-centered office environment and provides administrative support to the department’s four professional staff and to the many campus-wide programs and events sponsored by Residential Life, the Kurtz Fund, and the College Houses. The coordinator supervises student office employees and oversees administrative operations of the Office of Residential Life, processing departmental accounts, keeping staff calendars, coordinating with dining and facilities to support campus meetings and events, and preparing office correspondence including letters of recommendation and student employment contracts. The coordinator also provides organizational and administrative support to office professional staff with the highest degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required; Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred. Applicants must possess: – excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication and telephone skills – the ability to operate collaboratively and efficiently in an active student-centered environment – a high level of proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite – the ability to organize, prioritize, and accomplish tasks efficiently and accurately despite frequent interruptions – the ability to maintain accurate records – sensitivity to and acceptance of the demands of confidentiality; – strong typing, grammar and spelling skills – the ability and willingness to communicate with students, faculty, staff, parents and community members. – Familiarity with web platforms, Blackboard, StarRez and content management system ( CMS ) is a plus.
Experience Requirements and/or Equivalents
Prior administrative experience in a fast-paced office setting, including general office management and project management, is strongly preferred. Administrative support experience in a higher education setting and experience working with students are preferred. Familiarity with liberal arts college environments also a plus.
Standard Work Days and Hours
37.5 hours/week. Typical schedule is 8:30AM- 5:00 PM M-F
