Assistant Dean

Under the direction of the Dean, the Assistant Dean will support the college's operations and serve as the lead for all data, accreditation and assessment efforts. The assistant dean will also collaborate on enrollment and retention initiatives. In the absence of the Dean, the Assistant Dean assumes the role of chief academic officer of the college.

The Assistant Dean will coordinate the College of Education’s accreditation efforts for external accrediting bodies and oversee assessment and program evaluation of programs within the college; assist the Dean in supervision of the program administration performed by school executive directors and other unit directors; and perform related work as required. This position requires travel and a flexible schedule including evening and weekend hours.

This is not a remote position and requires physical presence on campus as determined by the Supervisor. It requires working on campus during the COVID-19 pandemic and interacting directly with students following all procedures and protocols set forth in the University’s Restart Plan and any procedures/protocols created through additional correspondence. The employee must have the ability to wear a face covering for the duration of the workday during the COVID pandemic or as determined by university protocol.

Qualifications: Master’s degree and a minimum of four years of professional experience in academic administration in a higher education environment or the equivalent as determined by the university is required. Candidate must have knowledge of and experience with assessment and accreditation processes. Preference will be given to those candidates who possess the following: a minimum of three years of full-time higher education administrative experience; higher education teaching experience; experience in analyzing quantitative data; excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, administrators and students; experience working with diverse populations and within a bargaining unit atmosphere; and a commitment to academic quality, scholarship and service.
