Organizational Objective/Goal

Provide top-quality, timely, and accessible information to facilitate and enhance decision-making, strategic planning, and assessment at the University of Mary Washington. The scope of this department’s responsibility embodies the university, state and federal agencies, and the general public.

General Description of Position

Assists with the collection, analysis and dissemination of research and assessment requests and activities. Complete ad-hoc research, data collection, analysis, presentations and other reporting, as requested. The successful candidate will independently provide fundamental data analysis and reporting using standardized application of research and statistical methods and reporting tools.

Required KSAs/Competencies

Demonstrated knowledge of quantitative analysis and reporting using Excel or similar tools; familiarity with SPSS, SAS, or other statistical software; experience with SQL server or similar relational database systems; demonstrated experience with outcomes and assessment management systems. Position requires attention to detail, data accuracy, efficient organizational skills and demonstrated follow-through on deliverables; aptitude for working well with others and communicating effectively using terminology that staff and other users can understand; ability to balance competing priorities and simultaneous multiple projects; excellent oral and written communication skills.

Preferred KSA's / Competencies / Qualifications to successfully perform the work

Working knowledge of institutional effectiveness/research in higher education; familiarity with Student Learning Outcomes and Assessment management systems, e.g. Weave; familiarity with reporting tools (e.g., Tableau, Cognos, Power BI); Website maintenance experience; previous experience with US News, Peterson’s, and other college surveys; experience with Ellucian Banner/ODS; experience with error resolution and locking of IPEDS and SCHEV submissions; experience managing student employees.

Required Education

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training and experience

Required Experience

Experience with quantitative analysis in a higher ed environment; capability to generate and write reports from a university data base management system; relational database systems; understanding of data visualization.

Preferred Experience

Master's degree in relevant discipline
