Job Summary

The Editor-in-Chief of the Campus Ledger oversees the Campus Ledger, inclusive of student online newspaper, and the student video production team. The Editor-in-Chief plans editorial content with staff; assigns stories, photos, cartoons, and videos to respective Student News Center staff; sets deadlines accordingly; conducts regular staff meetings; monitors staff progress and serves as spokesperson for The Campus Ledger. A writing skills test may be administered at the time of interview.

Required Qualifications

High School graduate or equivalent
Enrolled in a minimum of 9 credit hours at JCCC each semester and maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA
Successful completion of Jour 122, Reporting for the Media (transcript required if not taken at JCCC)
Demonstrated strong writing/editing skills

Preferred Qualifications

Experience on a student publication
Knowledge of Associated Press style
Completion of 6 hours of college-level English or journalism courses
Supervisory experience
