Job Description:
Fairfield University, a private, Jesuit, Master's level comprehensive institution in Fairfield, Connecticut, seeks a talented Director to lead the Design and Digital Print Services department within the Marketing and Communications Division. The Director of Design and Digital Print Services would report to the Vice President of Marketing and Communications.
The Director of Design and Digital Print is responsible for:
- Maintaining the University brand standards and governance
across the institution.
- Developing strategies for streamlining production and creating
opportunity for self-service templated design.
- Creating and managing the design and production of visually
compelling materials that support the institution's strategic and
marketing objectives. S/he is expected to create a range of strong
design and print solutions for key projects that will help elevate
brand identity and maintain brand consistency across all marketing
materials.
- Working collaboratively with divisional colleagues and internal
partners to develop and produce effective marketing
materials.
- S/he will oversee the operations, staff, and budget for the
Design and Digital Print services, as well as manage multiple
projects and production schedules simultaneously, meeting all
deadlines and budget commitments.
- Managing external freelancers and vendors for externally
designed or printed projects, ensuring quality and
timeliness.
- Developing graphic design capabilities across all mediums such
as branding for print, web, apparel, video, animation,
illustration, etc.
A bachelor's degree in art, graphic design, or related field is required. Additional training or certification is preferred in design software, digital printing processes and equipment, and related programs. Five-plus years of experience in art direction and management is required. Knowledge and proficiency in design and digital production software, and in managing production processes and equipment is essential. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience as a creative entrepreneur in a leadership/project management role, with outstanding interpersonal communication and presentation skills. Teamwork and collaboration with a diverse campus and public community is also key to success.
