Head Golf Coach (Men's & Women's)

Job Description Summary:
To plan, organize, direct and evaluate all phases of competitive intercollegiate Men's and Women's Golf programs. To understand the role of Division III athletics in the educational process and recruit quality student-athletes which will reflect and represent the quality of the University of La Verne.

Specific Duties:
  • Responsible for coaching; recruiting qualified student-athletes; planning, organizing, conducting and supervising regular practice sessions and contests.
  • Annual recruitment goal of 4-6 student athletes for both the men’s and women’s programs, respectively.
  • Responsible for monitoring of, and accountable for, overall budget administration for both Golf programs.
  • Maintain and update the inventory of equipment, uniforms and materials needed to successfully operate both Golf programs.
  • Develop the contest schedule and coordinate all team travel arrangements both Golf programs.
  • Assign responsibilities to and supervise all work for assistant coach(s) and graduate assistant(s).
  • Mentor, counsel and monitor academic progress of student-athletes in both Golf programs.
  • Responsible for compliance of NCAA, SCIAC, and University of La Verne rules and regulations.
  • Develop and maintain positive alumni and community relations.
  • Responsible for fundraising as necessary to supplement the funding of a competitive intercollegiate Golf program for both the men and women.
  • Assist the Athletics Department with fundraising endeavors.
  • Interact with all other college constituencies.
  • Serve as an Academic Advisor for student-athletes on the team as an informed consumer of advising concepts and academic policies, includes supporting academic events like SOAR, etc.
  • Perform other duties, summer duties, special projects and other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.


Minimum Qualifications:
  • The ideal candidate should have excellent interpersonal and communication skills with proven recruiting skills and must have a commitment to academic success and student-athlete well being.
  • This position requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree with a strong preference given to those with a Master’s degree.
  • Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years previous college coaching experience with demonstrated success.
  • A valid California drivers license is required.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • First Aid and CPR Certifications are desired.
