Virtual Course Facilitator Instructor - Virtual Practicum Course CD611

Speech@Emerson is actively seeking certified Speech Language Pathologists (SLP) who will serve as a Course Facilitator/instructor for our Virtual Practicum Course (CD611)

In the Virtual Practicum course students will use Simucase to complete clinical simulations, guided by a Course Facilitator. Topics covered include effective chart reviewing, assessment planning and result interpretation, developing appropriate treatment plans including goals and objective setting, as well as implementation strategies . Students develop skills related to, data collection and reporting, issues related to interacting with families, and work on developing self-reflection skills. The course also targets clinical writing skills for documentation, including treatment plans, SOAP notes, and summary reports.
The https://speech.emerson.edu/academics/course-catalogue/">Speech@Emerson curriculum involves both synchronous live sessions via computer and asynchronous content that students work on during the week. Courses have been developed by Emerson faculty. Course Facilitators function as the instructor of record for individual sections of each course and lead weekly 90-minute class sessions for approximately 10-17 students via Zoom. Course Facilitators are supported by Convenors who are familiar with the course and provide guidance on learning goals, grading, or classroom management. The course Convenor and all Facilitators are in regular communication to ensure parity and equity of the student experience across class sections..

Speech@Emerson Course Facilitators are responsible for:
  • Teaching assigned course(s )and/or duties as specified in the schedule and assignment contract.
  • Acquiring texts and/or instructional materials for the class
  • Following lesson plans and guiding students through activities and assignments related to course content.
  • Clarifying and enforcing course expectations, learning objectives, deadlines, and all other course requirements, including applying all grading rubrics.
  • Being available for student consultation through virtual office hours, scheduled appointments, by zoom and/or email.
  • Maintaining records of enrollment and attendance, assessments and grades, submitting class rosters and grades online by the deadlines established by the College.


The Communication Sciences & Disorders (CSD) Master's program, Speech@Emerson, combines online and in-person learning for aspiring speech-language pathologists across the US. Our program prepares students to become Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) capable of working in any setting, with a variety of disorders, across the lifespan.
