Lecturer in The Department of Communication
The Department of Communication at Georgia State University in Atlanta invites applicants for three full-time Lecturer Positions to begin in August, 2021, pending budgetary approval. The focus of all three positions will be on teaching undergraduate courses in the Communication Department.
Two of these positions will focus on teaching undergraduate journalism courses. Courses include but are not limited to entry-level journalism writing and Multimedia Journalism/Reporting. At least one of the two lecturers will be required to teach Communication Law. Other potential courses include applied graphic communication, television or radio broadcasting. The third position will be a speech communication lecturer (generalist) for courses including but not limited to Interpersonal Communication, Human Communication, Public Speaking, and Argumentation.
The chief responsibilities for all three positions will be undergraduate teaching, with a 4x4 load and a 20% service component. The position does not require an ongoing research program. Lecturers are eligible for annual renewal in ways that can culminate in promotion to the rank of Senior Lecturer and beyond.

Candidates should have a PhD or terminal degree in communication or a closely allied discipline at the time of employment, be able to demonstrate teaching effectiveness in the Department’s diverse programs, be available for the interview process, and be available to start August 2021. Additional qualifications may include broadcast, television, or radio experience, and experience with diverse populations.
