A global destination for artists and arts enthusiasts, Interlochen Center for the Arts nurtures creativity through five dynamic platforms: Interlochen Arts Camp, the renowned summer arts program; Interlochen Arts Academy, the nation’s premier fine arts boarding high school; Interlochen Presents, a producer of more than 600 annual performances by internationally celebrated guest artists, Interlochen students, and faculty; Interlochen Public Radio, two listener-supported, 24-hour public radio stations (classical music and news); and Interlochen College of Creative Arts, a convener for lifelong learning in the arts.

The Instructor of Violin is a full-time faculty position that serves the needs of talented, young violinists at the Interlochen Arts Academy and joins a creative music faculty representing the best classical, contemporary, and jazz instruction for high school students in the nation. Opportunities will be offered to teach at Camp and at Interlochen Online for additional compensation.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:


Teach a full load of private violin lessons and violin studio classes during the Academy year Teach orchestral sectionals Coach chamber groups Maintain regional and national visibility in solo/chamber/orchestral performance and masterclasses Recruit violin students and work with the admissions department to set and meet enrollment goals Support students in the college admission and audition process Teach other classes (theory, music history, etc.) based on interest and availability Attend and contribute to faculty and staff meetings on the department, divisional, and school-wide level Qualifications:

Master’s in violin performance required. DMA in violin performance or commensurate professional experience is preferred. Significant private studio experience with high school and/or college-aged violinists required. Professional level solo, chamber, or orchestral experience required. Familiarity and openness to teaching multiple genres including jazz, pop and world music.
