enthusiasts, Interlochen Center for the Arts nurtures creativity
through five dynamic platforms: Interlochen Arts Camp, the renowned
summer arts program; Interlochen Arts Academy, the nation’s premier
fine arts boarding high school; Interlochen Presents, a producer of
more than 600 annual performances by internationally celebrated
guest artists, Interlochen students, and faculty; Interlochen
Public Radio, two listener-supported, 24-hour public radio stations
(classical music and news); and Interlochen College of Creative
Arts, a convener for lifelong learning in the arts.
Instructor of Mathematics plans, organizes and
facilitates appropriate instructional programs in a prestigious
boarding high school for young artists. They will create a positive
learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop
and fulfill their academic and creative potential.
Essential Duties &
Responsibilities:
Creates course curriculum, course handouts,
lectures, labs, presentations, and other course materials required
to deliver course information in an understandable and interesting
manner to ensure students are engaged with the course material in
order to achieve the course learning outcomes
Teaches a full load of classes in mathematics.
Develops and maintains a course page through Canvas
learning management software.
Maintains up-to-date attendance and gradebook
records.
Completes timely and thorough interim and grade
reports.
Writes letters of recommendation for college
admissions.
Serves as a mentor for an advisory group.
Collaborates and builds relationships with fellow
faculty members.
Provides office hours 4 days a week for students
(minimum of 30 minutes per session).
Attends department, division, faculty, community
and other meetings as necessary.
Participates in mission oriented events like
all-school events and student performances.
Experience and Skills
Bachelor’s degree in mathematics or related field
(statistics, data science, computer science) required. Master’s
degree a plus.
High school teaching experience preferred.
Experience teaching all levels of math from
pre-algebra to calculus preferred.
Ability to teach other science or elective courses
preferred.
Ability to demonstrate effectiveness in creating
course materials (syllabus, handouts, presentations, etc) which
enhance student interest and engagement.
Ability to use technology to introduce new
materials.
