Title: Assistant Professor of Foundations Drawing

Visual and Performing Arts Department, Daemen College

Job Description:

The Visual & Performing Arts Department at Daemen College is seeking a full-time, tenure track, assistant professor of Foundations Drawing for a projected Fall 2021 start.

The successful candidate will coordinate the Foundations Drawing Program, teach undergraduate courses in Foundation Drawing I & II, advanced drawing, figure drawing, and painting. We are looking for a candidate with a vision to coordinate the foundation drawing program in a way that advances drawing skill-sets for all visual art majors and who will be able to support the painting course sequence of the department. Other responsibilities will include advising students, college-wide committee service, and continued professional activity.

Required Qualifications:

The candidate will have an MFA in Drawing, Painting, or another related field that would support the needs of this position. We will look for a history of continuous professional activity, including a strong comprehensive production and exhibition record. It will be vital to have a thorough understanding of both traditional and contemporary art practice. Five year's prior teaching at the college/university level and affiliation with professional organizations is required. Application Requirements:

This is a 9 month, full time, tenure track position. Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Review of applications begins immediately and will continue until the position is filled.

Benefits are available the first of the month following the full-time employee's date of hire and include health, dental, vision insurance, and fully paid life insurance. Eligibility for the 403b retirement plan is available to full-time employees upon hire and an 8%employer match after one year of service.
