Responsibilities
The Digital Media Manager will be responsible for the development and execution of a comprehensive social media strategy for the Advancement division. This strategy will involve articulating goals, drafting policies, promoting audience growth, developing engagement messaging, identifying and measuring KPI's. Data analytics will be used to drive strategy for a more robust communication platform for all Advancement constituencies. This position will oversee the management, strategy, and content development (in partnership with department directors) for the Advancement website. The strategy plan will support and enhance multiple social media initiatives ongoing at the College and as such will work in collaboration with campus partners. The position will manage 1-3 student interns.

  • Direct strategy for Advancement and Alumni; maintain and develop updates/content, and including produce monthly Alumni e-newsletter. Partner with College Communications to distribute school based e-newsletters.
  • Developing, writing and posting original content (write, edit, curate and produce) to tell the story of Saint Mary's and opportunities to stay connected, as well as promoting development, campaign, stewardship, and alumni engagement events and activities, and driving traffic to RSVP pages/web. Share with College Communications for MySMC and other related areas.
  • Management and creation of content for all social media platforms including but not limited to Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Snapchat, YouTube.
  • Update and develop digital presence of the Advancement division including web content/webinars, alumni online community and email marketing. Manage the maintenance of the alumni landing pages, online event calendars and RSVP forms.
  • Be present at Advancement events and activities as necessary to capture live content for all social media platforms. Manage when needed all virtual events for alumni.
  • Calendar and Analytics: Develop a centralized calendar for Advancement digital communications efforts to enhance efficiencies, effectiveness, and coordination. Maintaining content calendars for all social media channels including Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram and Twitter. Implement a comprehensive data analytics system for assessing Advancement outreach and impact. Compiling and analyzing detailed social media metrics, statistics and reports to inform KPI's and make adjustments accordingly.
  • Other Duties as assigned: Hire and supervise student assistants.


  • Experience and Qualifications
    Education: REQUIRED: BA/BS PREFERRED:

    Experience: (years required and applicable field of experience): 3-5 years

    Skills/Abilities: (e.g. computer skills, written & verbal skills, trades, laws, procedures, technical) Working knowledge of concepts and principles of social media, marketing, and web analytic tools. In depth experience using social media channels including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram. Superior writing, editing and technical skills with strong attention to detail - knowledge of the fundamentals of grammar, syntax, AP style and punctuation. Experience with Adobe Photoshop and InDesign, Microsoft Office and Google Drive.

    Basic HTML knowledge a plus. Ability to prioritize, multitask and balance varying volumes of work and adapt to changing needs of the office.

    Other Requirements: (e.g. travel, weekend/evening work) Frequent weekend and evening work required to be present at Advancement events for timely posting of digital content.
