The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Valparaiso University invites applications for visiting faculty position in Materials/Structural Engineering that will begin in August for the fall 2021 semester and the spring 2022 semester (https://www.valpo.edu/college-of-engineering/).  Primary teaching responsibilities will cover core lecture and lab courses in Mechanics of Materials, Introduction to Materials Engineering, and Reinforced Concrete Design.

Valparaiso University’s undergraduate-only College of Engineering offers an ABET-accredited BS Civil Engineering degree and a new BS Environmental Engineering degree. The College of Engineering at Valpo is currently ranked tied for 13th in Engineering Programs (non-doctoral) in the 2020 U.S. News Rankings.

The successful candidate for the visiting faculty position will have a Ph.D. civil engineering or a closely aligned field.  Consideration also will be given to applicants with an earned Master’s degree in civil engineering. The successful candidate will possess enthusiasm for undergraduate teaching and the ability to interact and effectively communicate with students and faculty from diverse backgrounds.
