Job Summary/Basic Function:
Brazosport College, a two-time Top 10 finalist for the Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence and Achieving the Dream Leader College, seeks a dynamic and innovative Heating, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technology Faculty member for a nine-month, non-tenure track position.
Job duties include but are not limited to:
- Reporting to the Chair of the Division of Mechanical and Construction Technologies;
- Prepares curriculum, including writing syllabi, developing new courses, selecting textbooks, etc.;
- Develops and teaches heating, air conditioning and refrigeration and other construction trade classes;
- Performs tasks for program effectiveness, including Basic Program Review and student learning assessment;
- Assists in the development and maintenance of laboratory facilities and learning activities;
- Works with an external advisory committee to ensure program and course outcomes and activities are congruent with industry needs and standards;
- Assists in the advisement of students;
- Serves on various assigned college committees;
- Summer teaching opportunities as enrollment dictates;
- Potential of teaching multiple night classes; and
- Supports the college’s student success initiatives.
The minimum qualifications for this positions are:
- Associate's degree in heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration technology from a regionally accredited college;
- Demonstrated related work competencies;
- Minimum of four (4) years of business/industry work experience in the HVAC field;
- Demonstrated evidence of successful teaching experience, community college level preferred;
- Excellent organization skills;
- Excellent written and oral communications, and human relations skills;
- Demonstrated ability of working with culturally diverse populations;
- Ability to work in a team environment;
- Other qualities, experiences, and skills that enhance one’s value to the institution; and
- Exceptional employment or educational qualifications may be given special consideration.
