Position Title Providence College School of Business (PCSB) Graduate Career Coach Overview

Provide pro-active career advising and career development opportunities for the MBA students (and graduate students enrolled in any other PCSB Master’s program), plan and execute career related events, collaborate with staff and faculty to provide career development programs and opportunities, and remain current in associated technology. This position is part-time/full-year.

Essential Duties:

1. Prepare PCSB Graduate students for internship and job searches. Review resumes and cover letters, provide practice interview and networking opportunities, specifically for MBA /Graduate level career opportunities. Educate students on the role of social media in relation to networking, job/internship searches, and interviewing.

2. In collaboration with the Associate Director of Employer Relations and the Associate Director of Internships in the Center for Career Education & Professional Development, build and maintain relationships with employers and alumni, both locally and nationally, utilizing alumni and other employer connections to provide opportunities for internships and jobs for graduate students in the School of Business. Deepen employer connections through site visits, networking events, and attendance at Career Expos and other events that have employers in attendance.

3. Assist in the creation of MBA /Graduate focused events, such as recruiting, networking, regional career days at corporate campuses, and recruiter visits to the Ryan Center. Develop a high-level mentor program utilizing FriarLink (PeopleGrove). Cultivate in-house experts with deep industry experience as PCSB Graduate student mentors.

4. Remain current on job market considerations and be able to apply this knowledge when advising students on job market trends (geographic and industry), salary statistics, job search methods, resources, etc. Build a network of MBA /Graduate coaches to be aware of best practices and trends.

5. Establish and maintain strong working relationships with School of Business faculty, gaining understanding of PCSB graduate programs and their needs. Work closely with PCSB graduate programs leadership in order to understand AACSB accreditation requirements in regards to availability and types of career coaching needed for PCSB graduate students. Support PCSB graduate student programs both externally and internally.

6. Track utilization of career coaching sessions, program attendance, job/internship applications, and employment statistics. Assess learning outcomes as a result of participation. Provide assessment and participation data reports around student meetings, programs, applications, placements, etc., to the Director of the CCEPD and the Sr. Associate Dean of the PCSB annually, and as needed during the year.

Marginal Duties:

1. Perform all other duties as may be required.

Education and Experience Required

• Master’s Degree (ideally an MBA ) from an accredited institution required.
• Three to five years’ experience in MBA coaching and/or significant corporate experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
• Knowledge of effective methods for career focus, job search, and career development in general and specific to MBA students.
• Strong organizational and detail skills
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Strong technical skills and willing to become Microsoft Officer certified
• Knowledge of technologies related to campus recruiting such as Handshake or Symplicity.
• Familiar with career coaching tools such as CliftonStrengths, Focus, Big Interview, etc.
• Knowledge of social media platforms in general, as well as specific knowledge about using social media to job search, network, and market one’s skills.
• Public speaking and group facilitation skills.
• Must be available evenings and weekend.
