JOB DESCRIPTION

The Phylis Lan Lin Department of Social Work at the University of Indianapolis is currently looking for a qualified adjunct who can teach at either the Bachelor’s or Master’s level.

Prior experience in the Social Work field (minimum two years post MSW practice experience) and a Master’s or Doctoral degree are required.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare and distribute departmental syllabus which informs students in writing about course requirements as to absences, tardiness, testing, assignments, and grading policies, APA guidelines, and other course expectations.
  • Teach Social Work courses (knowledge, skills, and expertise in the assigned teaching area requesting course facilitation). Instructors would teach face-to-face, online, or hybrid courses.
  • Inform students regularly of their academic progress by promptly returning assignments, quizzes, and examinations.
  • Respond promptly to all student emails and phone calls.
  • Keep attendance records for each student, notify students of frequent absences, failures, or necessary make-up work, and deliver records to financial aid as requested.
  • Utilize the department rubrics to objectively evaluate student progress and determine the quality of performance.
  • Monitor grading criteria, record the results of student efforts, and comply with all grade reporting deadlines.
  • Meet all assigned class sessions, and be available for office hours.
  • Use ACE/BrightSpace as the LMS and grade book.
  • Encourage the use of the UINDY resources (Library, Tutoring Services, Counseling Center and other supportive services as needed.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in the Social Work field (minimum two years post MSW practice experience required), LSW or LCSW preferred
  • One year teaching experience preferred
  • Master’s or Doctoral Degree in a related field
