Job Description:

The University of Florida’s Talent Acquisition & Onboarding office is seeking a customer-focused professional to provide high-level service to support hiring departments in attracting, assessing, and hiring preeminent talent by implementing and leveraging best practice and recruitment strategies. This role is critical in developing and implementing positive experiences for our campus partners, candidates, and new hires.

As Talent Acquisition Specialists, we drive positive results by serving as an advisor to UF departments regarding effective recruitment and onboarding strategies, developing recruitment and onboarding processes, and providing excellent service to candidates.

The roles and responsibilities of a Talent Acquisition Specialist are to:

  • Serve as a talent acquisition advisor to UF hiring authorities in developing and implementing effective recruitment and onboarding strategies.
  • Assist in developing recruitment and onboarding best practices that comply with federal and state laws, including Fair Labor Standard Acts, Family and Medical Leave Act, and Title VII of Civil Rights Act.
  • Analyzes recruitment data for the development of metrics and activity reports in support of the University’s recruitment and hiring strategies.
  • Provides service excellence, ensuring that the recruitment process is managed in a professional and timely manner.
  • Oversees and coordinates the pre-employment screening process including employment verification, health assessments, and background checks in a manner that complies with federal and state laws and university hiring policies and recruitment procedures.
  • Coordinates activities for organizational recruiting such as placing job announcements, attending job fairs, performing pre-employment screenings and verifications.
  • Provide administrative and logistic support for executive-level and hard-to-fill searches.
  • Advises departments and college administrators on issues of concern and university hiring policies, fair recruitment procedures, and general employment law (Title VII, ADA, Fair Labor Standard Act, etc) as it pertains to talent acquisition and onboarding.
  • Keeps current in the human resource profession by attending workshops/seminars, reading professional literature, locally or out of state.

Expected Salary:

$45,000/year; commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and two years of appropriate experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience (professional staffing and/or employment recruitment experience).
  • Familiarity of professional human resources practices, talent acquisition, and employment laws, specifically Title VII, ADA, FLSA.
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service and building relationship with others
  • Professional behavior and demeanor, ability to interacting with people at various levels and from diverse backgrounds
  • Experience working with applicant tracking systems or other systems as well as computer skills – Word, Access, PowerPoint, Excel
  • Ability to orally communicate effectively with others.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing, using the English language, with or without the use of auxiliary aids or services.
  • Ability to review, understand and apply concepts presented in training programs, conferences and /or professional literature.
  • Ability to work and cooperate with colleagues and supervisory staff at all levels.
