The Entrepreneurship and Innovation Institute (ENI) at Georgia State University (GSU) invites applicants for one non-tenure track faculty member in entrepreneurship and/or innovation at the Clinical Assistant or Clinical Associate Professor level, effective Fall 2021 or earlier. We seek applicants with a passion and demonstrated capability for developing entrepreneurs, direct experience with new ventures or other applicable professional experience, and/or a keen interest in entrepreneurship and innovation in underserved populations.
Applicants should have expertise in supporting the University’s strategic goal of becoming a national model demonstrating that students from all backgrounds can imagine and develop solutions to problems and innovative new products and services that create value for themselves, their communities and society. Successful candidates will help oversee and expand curricular offerings, interdisciplinary partnerships, and integration of curricular and non-curricular experiences at the graduate and undergraduate levels.
The successful candidate will have earned a terminal degree in a relevant discipline from an accredited university or international equivalent and be qualified to teach in the Institute’s interdisciplinary undergraduate and graduate degree and certificate offerings in media entrepreneurship, social entrepreneurship, biomedical enterprise, disruptive innovation and entrepreneurship and other related programs. Successful candidates will contribute to the development of new courses and programmatic offerings, ENI’s non-curricular activities, and in general support of the unit and its growth. Successful candidates will also be expected to publish applied and/or pedagogical research in refereed journals. Candidates will have opportunities to interact with companies and entrepreneurial organizations in the metro Atlanta area.
The successful candidate’s academic home will be in the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Institute. Established in 2016, ENI is a significant strategic effort by both the Robinson College of Business (RCB) and the University to build upon and expand the university’s offerings in entrepreneurship and innovation courses and experiences among all of its 50,000+ students. Serving as the enabler in the university-wide effort to cultivate a more inclusive entrepreneurial culture, ENI provides educational opportunities and practical experiences in entrepreneurship and innovation for all students at GSU. ENI offers rapidly growing degree programs including a BBA in entrepreneurship, interdisciplinary undergraduate majors in entrepreneurship in conjunction with the Creative Media Industries Institute, Andrew Young School of Policy Studies, and the Institute for Biomedical Sciences, an undergraduate minor available to all students at GSU, a graduate certificate in disruptive innovation and entrepreneurship, a concentration in entrepreneurship at the MBA level, and a graduate degree in conjunction with the Institute for Biomedical Sciences. Over the past five years, entrepreneurship-themed majors and the minor have collectively experienced outstanding growth and ENI is positioned as an important part of the future of the University and business community. ENI also offers significant co-curricular programming including an accelerator program, workshops, speaker series, competitions and community-building events. Opportunities for conducting research are excellent with similarly interested faculty colleagues across the college and university in areas such as public policy, law, economics, management, finance, marketing, risk management, and healthcare, along with researchers across the college and university associated with our entrepreneurship and innovation programs. ABOUT THE ENVIRONMENT
Georgia State University, the largest university in Georgia with more than 50,000 students enrolled (and over 63,000 unique students, including 7,000 graduate/professional), continues to lead the state and nation in graduating economically and racially diverse students on-time and at a reasonable cost. The university enrolls more than 21,000 African Americans, 13,500 White, 6,000 Asian, 5,600 Hispanic, and 3,000 Multiracial students each semester. Further, through its campuses throughout the Metro Atlanta area, Georgia State serves a diverse array of communities, including many first-generation Americans, with U.S. News and World Report ranking it as the 10th most diverse university in the nation. Georgia State is also a leading research university ranking 78th out of 408 public universities in the U.S. for research expenditures according to the National Science Foundation. In FY 2020, Georgia State faculty earned a record $150.2 million in external research funding, the sixth consecutive year that funding exceeded $100 million.
With more than 8,000 students, RCB is one of the country's largest and most diverse business schools. The college houses the Department of Computer Information Systems and Department of Risk Management and Insurance, both of which have top-10 rankings, and Robinson’s Marketing Department ranks 4th in Modeling and Quantitative Analysis in scholarly research productivity. Robinson has active research programs in the management of information technology, predictive risk analytics, marketing analytics, and health IT and analytics relevant to this position. The RCB is among the first U.S. business schools to operate a FinTech Laboratory. Further, the RCB is the host institution for the University System of Georgia’s FinTech Academy, which brings together the burgeoning Georgia FinTech business community with academic institutions to develop future leaders in the sector through innovative educational programs.
