About the Opportunity:

Reporting to the Director of the University PreHealth Program, the PreHealth Advisor supports the mission of the PreHealth Program, provides resources and advising services to Northeastern students and alums regarding preparation for postgraduate four-year health professional schools (allopathic and osteopathic medicine, dental medicine, optometric medicine, podiatric medicine, and veterinary medicine) and facilitates the application process. Responsibilities: | Provide advice and counseling from freshman to alumni though individual and group appointments | Clearly communicate PreHealth Program and Committee Letter eligibility requirements | Manage letter service (letter collection, verification, processing and distribution) | Compile applicant information | Review and respond to student assessments | Organize and coordinate events and programs | Lead student/applicant evening workshops | Serve as advisor for student organizations

Master's degree in the sciences, health, education, counseling, or similar fields. Prior student advising experience required. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to relate empathetically and realistically to students, parents, and alumni. Ability to assimilate large quantities of new information, set priorities, meet deadlines, attention to detail, able to multi-task and work with minimal supervision.
