Assistant Teaching Professor, Health Sciences and Human Performance
The Department of Health Sciences and Human Performance within the College of Natural and Health Sciences at The University of Tampa invites applications for an Assistant Teaching Professor position starting in August, 2021.
The University of Tampa is a medium-sized, comprehensive, residentially based private institution of 9,200 undergraduate and graduate students. The University is ideally situated on a beautiful 110-acre campus next to the Hillsborough River, adjacent to Tampa’s dynamic central business district, which is a growing, vibrant, diverse metropolitan area. UT reflects this vibrancy; with 22 consecutive years of enrollment growth UT boasts 260 student organizations, a multicultural student body from 50 states and 140 countries and “Top Tier” ranking in U.S. News and World Report.
Responsibilities will include a teaching load of 27 credit/contact hours per academic year at the undergraduate level.
The candidate is expected to mentor students with special
emphasis on students in our human performance and allied health
majors, and to participate in service to the department, college,
university, and broader community. Participation in scholarly
activity is not required for this position.
Qualifications
Applicants with an earned
Doctorate degree in a Health Sciences and Human Performance related
discipline by August 2021 will be considered for Assistant Teaching
Professor rank. Applicants with a Master’s degree in a Health
Sciences and Human Performance related discipline will be
considered for Lecturer I rank. Master’s degree applicants are
expected to document at least three (3) years of teaching
experience at the college level.
The ideal candidate for this position will have experience in teaching a range of health sciences and human performance content (i.e., introduction to human performance, human motor development and learning, personal and family health, seminar in human performance, etc.) are especially encouraged to apply. Additional instructor certification in ARC Emergency Medical Response is highly desirable.
Candidates are expected to have an interest in and the ability to teach courses at the introductory and upper division levels. In addition, candidates who demonstrate experience in or desire to develop inter-professional practice, leadership, and collaboration experiences are desired.
A demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence in lower and upper division undergraduate courses is required.
Salary for this position is competitive and commensurate with
qualifications and experience.
