CASE WESTERN RESERVE UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF LAW invites applications for a lawyering skills Assistant Professor position beginning July 2021. This is a 10-month renewable contract, untenured position on the lawyering skills track with the potential for promotion depending on rank at hiring. Candidates will be considered for appointment at the level commensurate with law teaching experience.

We seek candidates with distinguished academic records, extensive practice experience in transactional work, and experience teaching in a law school setting. Successful candidates should have a strong commitment to the teaching of lawyering skills.  Key responsibilities will involve classroom teaching in our required upper-level transaction skills course; one-on-one student interaction, drafting and grading multiple student writing projects each semester, and devising and coordinating simulation exercises. It may periodically include some specialized doctrinal courses in transactional areas and supervision of student extracurricular activities. In addition, this member of the faculty will be part of, and must integrate curriculum with, a team that teaches the legal skills program through our students’ first and second years and coordinates with the skills curriculum in other courses. Candidates must have a JD from an ABA-accredited law school, significant law practice experience (including as a supervising attorney) and law school teaching experience. There is a preference for candidates who are licensed in Ohio, have more than ten years’ legal practice experience, and have significant prior law school teaching experience.
