The Director of Noncredit Professional
Programs is a key member of the Professional and Continuing Studies
senior management team and collectively accountable for developing,
leading, and executing the noncredit professional program
development and implementation strategy of the Division of
Professional and Continuing Studies (PCS) at the University of
Delaware. The Division is a university-wide service
unit.
Specific Responsibilities include: Reporting to and under the
limited leadership of the Associate Vice Provost of the Division,
Director provides leadership and strategic direction to all
noncredit professional programs, including certificate programs,
customized programming, conferences, short courses, non-credit
registration and information systems, and other administrative
services that support students within the state of Delaware,
nationally and internationally. Director is responsible for
providing vision, strategy, and guidance to unit for organizational
excellence and program innovation and building internal and
external partnerships for adult and continuing education
programs. S/he provides leadership to PCS in the absence of
the Associate Vice Provost and represents UD PCS at internal and
external events and professional organizations.
Required qualifications include a master’s in adult education,
higher education, or an academic discipline with a minimum of 8-10
years of progressive related experience in leadership, management
and university-based continuing higher education are required;
doctorate preferred.
Experience in human resource and budgetary management, a proven
track record in continuing education program innovation, design,
and delivery. Effective interpersonal and communications skills to
work with internal and external stakeholders in an entrepreneurial
environment are expected. Excellent oral and written communication
skills are expected. Ability to work on evenings and weekends and
to travel nationally and internationally.
