Oregon Tech is seeking applications for an Academic Advisor in the Department of Retention Services. This is a 12-month, full-time position located on the Oregon Tech campus in Klamath Falls, Oregon. The Academic Advising and Retention Office is committed to the success of Oregon Tech students. Working as a team, we combine data and predictive analytics to guide the creation of programs and outreach. Advising sessions cover a range of topics, including: finding and using campus resources, understanding curriculum maps, transfer credits and prerequisites, time management and adaptation to college life. The successful applicant is expected to provide first-year academic advising to Klamath Falls campus students to ensure student success. The Advisor will work with Klamath Falls faculty and staff providing operational responsibilities focused on academic advising and retention and ensuring students have educational guidance and assistance throughout their first-year at Oregon Tech. Effective and respectful communication and working with people of varying beliefs, behaviors, orientations, identities, and cultural backgrounds are key components of the position along with a strong commitment to the principles of Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, & Access. Required: Bachelor’s degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, or related field or any combination of relevant education and professional experience; Experience advising and /or mentoring students in a higher education environment; Relevant experience working with students in a higher education environment; Excellent written, oral communication and customer service skills; and The ability to work independently and in team setting. Preferred: Knowledge of Banner, DegreeWorks, Canvas, etc; Knowledge of academic policies and procedures; Experience with Microsoft suite including Word, Outlook, Power Point, and Excel; and Demonstrated knowledge of university systems and structures.
