BIOINORGANIC CHEMISTRY ASSISTANT PROFESSOR POSITION
The University of Georgia Department of Chemistry (chem.uga.edu) invites applications for a tenure track faculty position in bioinorganic chemistry, beginning August 1, 2021, at the level of Assistant Professor. UGA Chemistry has inorganic expertise both in core areas (e.g., synthesis and characterization of solid-state materials, low molecular weight complexes inspired by metalloenzyme active sites, catalysis, and main group compounds) and in cross-cutting fields related to our interdisciplinary centers and institutes (e.g., Complex Carbohydrate Research Center, New Materials Institute, Center for Computational and Quantum Chemistry, and the Center for Metalloenzyme Studies).
Candidates in all areas of bioinorganic chemistry will be considered, particularly those with research interests that build upon this range of expertise. Of special interest are research programs centered on the study of metalloproteins/metalloenzymes and spectroscopic/theoretical methods used to characterize them. Competitive applicants will have a strong research record, demonstrate creativity in their research plans, and exhibit a commitment to teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels. A Ph.D. in chemistry or related field is required at time of appointment; 1 to 2 years of postdoctoral experience is highly desirable.
