The Department of Dance at Skidmore College, ( https://www.skidmore.edu/dance/index.php ), invites applications for a temporary position as a Lecturer in Dance to teach for the Spring semester of 2022

Dates: Jan 25th 2022 – May 21st 2022

Credit Hours/Payment: 8.5 credits hours. $1400/credit

Responsibilities: Teaching three courses in the Spring 2022 semester. Instructor will need to be available for additional support to students in the class via email, administer the course learning management system, and may be required to oversee a teaching assistant. This position will also act as a one credit advisor for a Senior culminating capstone experience.

Qualifications: We seek an experienced dance educator with a demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion, who can facilitate technical expertise and cultural competency in an undergraduate academic environment. Enthusiasm for mentoring a diverse population of students is essential as is holding a passion for teaching dance at all levels, beginning through advanced. A qualified candidate will demonstrate evidence of teaching excellence in one or more of the following areas: African diasporic forms, social dance forms, modern/contemporary dance, ballet, or dance composition. An undergraduate degree and previous experience teaching in higher education required; Professional experience is preferred. We recognize that “professional experience” can encompass many kinds of work in the discipline of dance. Please note: instructor will be required to abide by all COVID related college and departmental policies which may include participating in weekly COVID testing on campus. Although not anticipated, instructors must be prepared and comfortable shifting to a remote teaching format if necessary.
