The University of Montana invites applications for the Director of Academic Affairs at Missoula College. This position supports the mission, vision, and goals of Missoula College in serving in an administrative, supervisory, and leadership role for the operations of the College. The position reports directly to the Dean of Missoula College.

Expectations/Responsibilities of the Position:

  • Advance the mission, vision, and goals of Missoula College, the University of Montana, and the Montana University System;
  • Create and sustain an environment of teaching, learning, service, and scholarly excellence appropriate to the comprehensive two-year college mission.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and supervision in career-professional education, transfer education, dual enrollment education, and developmental education.
  • Develop instructional staffing plans and provide oversight of academic instructional scheduling.
  • Provide leadership and direct supervision of Missoula College Academic Units (Applied Arts and Science, Business & Technology, Health Professions, & Industrial Trades)
  • Assist the Dean in providing oversight in the recruitment, onboarding/orientation, supervision, professional development, mentoring, promotion, tenure, reappointment, and evaluation of all Missoula College tenure-line faculty, clinical faculty, adjunct faculty, and affiliate faculty.
  • Provide leadership in academic programming, curricular development, curriculum assessment, accreditation, instructional staffing, and course scheduling.
  • Provide oversight of experiential learning opportunities including internships, apprenticeships, clinical experiences, and career success.
  • Provide leadership in the high school dual enrollment program.
  • Provide leadership for workforce education programs including delivery of noncredit education offerings and short courses, development of industry advisory councils, Perkins Career Technical education programs, and workforce education funding opportunities.
  • Represent MC academic interests across the external community and the State of Montana
  • Provide oversight and direction for student scholarship awards.
  • Serve as the point of contact in addressing student complaints, student conduct code violations, mandatory prevention education, behavioral intervention, discrimination, and University community standards.
  • Recruit and retain students.
  • Provides oversight to the Learning Center, Community and Work-Based Learning Coordinator, and Dual Enrollment program.
  • Assist the Dean in faculty supervision including instructional workload assignments, professional development activities, faculty evaluation.


Position Details
  • Position is full-time, 1.0 FTE, 12 month, MUS Contract and includes a comprehensive and competitive benefits package including Insurance package, mandatory retirement plan, partial tuition waiver, and wellness program.
  • Salary for this position is $80,000 - $90,000 per year commensurate with qualifications.

Required Experience
  • Master’s Degree
  • Five (5) years higher education experience
  • Experience with accreditation policies and procedures




Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree
  • Knowledge of higher education practices and policies, preferably two-year education
  • Experience with accreditation policies and procedures

  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal grant policies and procedures.
