Pratt Institute is in search of an Associate Director of Health Services who is a critical thinker with excellent administrative and clinical skills. We are seeking a candidate who has a passion for supporting our diverse student body and will play an instrumental role in helping the department reach its goals for the Health Center. If you have the ability to provide leadership and guidance on health issues, can provide high-level oversight and delivery of medical health and wellness care, and are committed to an understanding of and appreciation for individual, community, and public health issues, then we want to hear from you.

Founded in 1887, Pratt Institute is a global leader in higher education dedicated to preparing its 4,875 undergraduate and graduate students for successful careers in art, design, architecture, information and library science, and liberal arts and sciences. This position is located on the 25-acre main campus located in the historic Clinton Hill section of Brooklyn.

Job responsibilities:
  • Oversee health service administrative operations, and establish, review, and update policies and procedures to support staff and student needs.
  • Supervise and manage direct reports including health care providers and administrative staff.
  • Establish and/or maintain critical office systems and protocols, including document management systems and other systems required to improve efficiency, information sharing, and shared learning.
  • Formulate, implement, and evaluate plans of care utilizing sound clinical judgment, based on assessments of physical, psychological, emotional, and environmental needs of students.
  • Facilitate referral to outside collaborative care providers and specialists as appropriate.
  • Emphasize a culture of high-quality service and best practices with the goal of improving program outcomes using evidence-based practices and QA/QI measures.
  • Represent Health Services as a visible spokesperson, engage with colleagues throughout the university in order to identify and respond to the needs of students, and advocate for student health and wellness on campus.
  • Engage in collaborative establishment of budget priorities and budget administration.
  • Foster close partnerships with other offices within the Division of Student Affairs as well as with faculty and other areas within the university to address practices related to campus-wide health.


Qualifications
Education: Current RN and NP licensure in New York State, MS in Nursing as a Nurse Practitioner, and National Certification required.

Experience: Five years related clinical and administrative work experience in college health, ambulatory, or community setting required. Demonstrated supervisory and management experience in health care services and administration, including the design, development, and direction of health-related programs and services.

Skills: Demonstrate a commitment to working closely with students and supporting a diverse student community. Possess knowledge of local and national issues, trends, and best-practice standards in primary health care. Ability to utilize electronic medical records to document medical care; a thorough understanding of and compliance with HIPPA/FERPA regulations.
