Department Summary
The Lundquist College of Business is one of seven schools housing academic programs on the University of Oregon campus. The College works cooperatively with other UO Colleges and Schools to prepare students for a broad range of career paths. There are approximately 50 full-time faculty members, 48 instructors and pro tem instructors, 40 administrative positions, 30 staff members, 1,200 undergraduate majors, 2,250 pre-business majors, 1,200 undergraduate minors, 170 master's students and 30 doctoral students.

The Department of Management is seeking to fill one faculty position at the Instructor level. Employment begins September 16, 2021. Employment is continuous and summer appointments may be available.

Position Summary
This position will teach up to eight courses at either the graduate or undergraduate level (80%) with the balance of the position being service (20%). Responsibilities for this position include teaching primarily courses in corporate and business strategy at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Other potential course areas include entrepreneurship, sustainability, and international business. Classes may be taught in a variety of modalities including face to face, remote/synchronous, and online/asynchronous.

Minimum Requirements

  • Master's degree in business, management, or related field
  • Five years of substantive industry experience of increased responsibility and scope
  • Academic teaching experience

Professional Competencies

  • Strong background in strategic management as evidenced by projects/issues addressed in an industry setting
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Interest, experience and/or ability to promote cultural competency and/or diversity with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds

Preferred Qualifications

  • Extensive professional leadership experience (e.g., as team/divisional lead, business owner, company executive, etc.)
  • Extensive experience teaching at the undergraduate level
  • Experience teaching at the graduate level, preferably MBA students
