Description
The University of Washington Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology is seeking a full-time academic Anatomic Pathologist with appointment as Assistant Professor, without tenure due to funding, pending experience and qualifications. The University of Washington in collaboration with the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA) has strong clinical programs in cancer treatment and serves as a major referral center across the WWAMI (Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, and Idaho) region. This position involves both independent and collaborative research with clinicians and basic science investigators, utilizing general surgical pathology skills in often complicated cases and providing advanced pathology expertise and services. Opportunities exist to participate on other sub-specialty diagnostic services as well as clinical informatics and molecular pathology. This is a 12-month active service [July 1-June 30], full-time position that is open until filled with an anticipated start date of September 1, 2021 but is flexible.
Qualifications
Positive factors for consideration include, but are not limited to, (1) subspecialty expertise in Bone and Soft Tissue pathology and (2) special interest in Lung Pathology and/or Head and Neck pathology. Candidates must have an M.D. or D.O. (or foreign equivalent) and be Board-eligible or -certified in Anatomic Pathology. Must qualify for a license to practice medicine in Washington State. In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S,) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
