The Cornell SC Johnson College of Business and College of Agriculture and Life Sciences invites applicants for a full-time Lecturer, Sr. Lecturer or Professor of Practice position in our Applied Economics and Policy area, for placement in the Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management. The intended start date of this position is July 1, 2021. The position will be based in Ithaca, NY.

 

Responsibilities: The successful candidate is expected to establish a distinguished program of teaching and engagement in the area of emerging markets. This is an open-rank non-tenure track teaching position, and the rank of the position will depend upon the qualifications of the successful candidate. A main part of the responsibilities will include teaching courses in global engagement with a focus on entrepreneurship in emerging markets as part of the Dyson School’s Student Multidisciplinary Applied Research Team (SMART) program. A major responsibility of the position will be arranging SMART projects and fundraising to make them financially feasible for students, as well as supervising the field component of the SMART projects. Candidates are expected to embrace the Dyson School’s vision (“our business is a better world”) based on solid theoretical foundation and rigorous empirical methods.

 

The ideal candidate will possess a Ph.D. in agricultural economics, applied economics, economics, international development, management, communication, or related fields is required.

 

The Cornell SC Johnson College of Business combines three Schools: the Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management (Johnson), the Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management (Dyson), and the School of Hotel Administration (Hotel School). Dyson houses a top- ranked undergraduate business program as well as graduate programs that award Ph.D., M.S. and

M.P.S. degrees. Areas of faculty research include management; environmental, energy and resource economics; food and agricultural economics; and international and development economics. The undergraduate program is one of only two accredited undergraduate business degree programs in the Ivy League. Faculty members in the Dyson School frequently collaborate with colleagues in Computer and Information Sciences, Economics, Engineering, agricultural and environment sciences and other units on campus.
