Bradley University is seeking an engaging and ambitious professional to serve as our organization’s Director of Development for the Slane College of Communications and Fine Arts. The incumbent will serve as a member of the university’s Advancement Division and report directly to the Sr. Director of Development. 

NOTE: This position will work remotely (or on campus in a limited capacity) until COVID-19-related restriction are eased at both the state, county, and university levels. When Bradley University resumes normal operations, this position will work primarily on campus and engage in work-related travel 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Act as a major gift officer for Bradley University and as the lead person for the fundraising efforts for the Slane College.
  • Develop and steward giving prospects tied to a regional assignment, and manage campaigns for fundraising priorities as assigned.
  • Partner with university leaders, the college dean, department administrators, staff, faculty, advisory board members, and students to identify, attract, engage, solicit, and steward existing and prospective donors (individuals, corporations, foundations) who are passionate about the programs of the Slane College and who have the capacity to support the University. This includes, but is not limited to, leveraging individual meetings/conversations, small group gatherings, larger special events, games, and receptions as a means to build and develop relationships with key supporters.
  • Sustain and grow corporate support/sponsorship for the Slane College.
  • Collaborate with key volunteers, campus leadership, faculty, and staff to promote the best interests of the University and the long range goals of our philanthropic program.
  • Engage as a positive and proactive partner with other members of the Advancement Division.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Actively assist with other Advancement Division events/activities as needed.
  • Represent the Advancement Division on ad-hoc or standing university committees, as appropriate and with the approval of the Senior Director of Development.
  • Participate in professional development as needed and/or assigned by the Senior Director of Development, the Vice President for Advancement, or the university.
  • Perform other assignments as directed by the Senior Director of Development or the Vice President for Advancement.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • A demonstrated record of success developing relationships with alumni/donors, customers, and/or constituents with diverse interests, experiences, and values in fundraising, sales, or account management environment.
  • Proven ability to take responsibility for assigned goals and find creative, innovative, and strategic solutions to problems/barriers.
  • Ability to be tactful, maintain high work standards, maintain confidentiality, utilize sound judgment and make responsible decisions.
  • Level-headed and adaptable in response to changing conditions, priorities, and expectations.
  • Exceptional communication skills and are responsive and professional when interacting with both internal and external partners using a variety of communication tools.
  • Commitment to valuing accurate donor/customer/constituent data/reporting and to accountability of the timely and effective tracking of activities and interactions per written policies and standards.
  • Ability to utilize technology effectively and easily navigate standard word processing, spreadsheet databases, email, virtual meeting venues, and database software and applications.
  • Willingness and ability to work evenings and/or weekends to accommodate the schedules of alumni, donors, volunteers and events and/or meet deadlines as needed.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel locally, regionally, and/or nationally (pending easing of COVID-19 related restrictions according to state, county, and university guidelines).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience securing 5, 6 and 7 figure gifts to support the advancement of a college, university, or other non-profit organization.
  • Experience with Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT (our CRM for alumni and donors).
  • In-depth knowledge of a working environment within higher education.
  • Advanced degree.
