Washburn University School of Applied Studies (SAS) invites applications for a Lecturer in the Criminal Justice and Legal Studies Department to begin August 1, 2021. This is a 9-month, full-time, lecturer position with the possibility of conversion to tenure track in three years. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to students from diverse backgrounds and a dedication to the development of inclusive pedagogies that support equality and student success.

Required Qualifications:

  • A Master’s in Criminal Justice or closely related field


Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Ph.D. in Criminal Justice or a closely related field
  • University teaching experience
  • Research or practice in law enforcement or forensic investigation


Responsibilities:

  • Teach 12 credit hours per semester of undergraduate law enforcement classes and other criminal justice courses as needed in face-to-face and online formats.
  • Advise and mentor criminal justice students.
  • Maintain on-campus office hours per SAS policy, attend meetings, and provide service (professional, community, university, and department) as requested by the Department Chair.
  • Report to the Department Chair.
