Communication and Marketing Coordinator - Admissions -17001



ATTENTION:

The Department of Admissions at the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater seeks a Communication and Marketing Coordinator (ASSOC STU SERV COORD).

This is an annual position and reappointment for subsequent terms is dependent upon needs of the position, university funding and external forces.

JOB DETAILS:

The Communications and Marketing Coordinator is responsible for the marketing and recruitment communications function for the Admissions Office. This is a 12-month, full-time position that reports to the Director of Admissions and collaborates closely with the University Marketing and Communications Office. The Communications and Marketing Coordinator will help to create, manage and implement a communications and marketing plan that is in line with the overall campus brand strategy. This position serves as a key member of the Admissions team and plays a critical role in managing communications from the Admissions Office to external audiences, specifically those who are being recruited by the university.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Earned Bachelor’s degree
  • Three years of experience in marketing or related field
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Experience with digital marketing or Customer Relation Management programs (Slate)
  • Valid driver’s license (or ability to obtain a valid driver’s license)
  • Strong written communication and public speaking skills
Desired Characteristics:
  • Professional experience working with students and/or individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Attention to detail and experience in writing, proofreading, etc.
  • Experience using and monitoring social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, and Tiktok
  • Ability to work independently and part of a team
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize multiple requests/projects, effectively meeting deadlines.
  • One-year professional experience within a college setting
  • Effective interpersonal skills and ability to establish positive relationships with students, staff and faculty
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Willingness and ability to be an active participant in following applicable safety rules and regulations including necessary training and drills
  • Ability to interact respectfully with people from diverse socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds

RESPONSIBILITIES:


General Responsibilities:
  1. Serve as the primary Admissions communication strategist and a liaison with University Marketing and Communications Office to create, update and maintain the communications content and workflow in the office
  2. Organize and schedule a regular communication plan for prospective students throughout the admission stream. This will include freshmen, transfers, online students and non-traditional students
  3. Develop an understanding of timeline and workflow of admissions processes and recruitment plans. Research upcoming and effective strategies in recruitment and marketing to prospective students
  4. Develop the office’s marketing strategy in conjunction with the Director of Admissions and University Marketing and Communications Office
  5. Using the University’s Strategic messaging as a foundation, update and maintain the daily visit welcome presentation and train the staff on its presentation
  6. Conceptualize, manage, and develop print and electronic communication related to recruitment efforts that are consistent with the marketing strategy of the Admissions Office
  7. Utilize multimedia methods and platforms, including social media and CRM technology
  8. Create and maintain effective outreach and communication to high schools, two-year institutions and other entities outside of the university whom the admissions office interacts with regularly
  9. Serve as the project manager on Admissions Office pieces, such as the yearly redesign of the viewbook, counselor update, web advertising and other print and web marketing and recruitment related items
  10. Work with the Director of Admissions and University Marketing and Communications Office in developing a yearly admissions’ search strategy and identify how the communications flow will operate within that strategy
  11. Use data analytics to inform recruitment strategies
  12. Connect regularly with other offices within the Enrollment Management division to help ensure the consistency of tone and timing of messages to students
  13. Other duties as assigned
Specific Responsibilities:
  1. Provide project management with various pieces in collaboration with University Marketing and Communications. Collaborate with the university web team to develop fresh content for the website
  2. Coordinate with the CRM Coordinator on the use of the CRM in communication strategy
  3. Update the visit presentation and train staff on its implementation
  4. Research and implement strategic social media networking tactics to increase visibility and interactions with prospective students; additionally, supervise students as they respond to the questions posed on social media sites
  5. Monitor institutional presence on college search engines to ensure accuracy of information and research
  6. Coordinate the office’s social media and web strategy and ensure that our office is on the cutting edge of communication with students
  7. Serve on the Marketing Council Committee to ensure consistent and thoughtful messaging across all student populations and outside entities, and develop strategies for counselors to better incorporate communication to their prospects
  8. Additional duties as prescribed by the Director of Admissions
