Summary
The Department of Medicine, Epidemiology and Population Science section is seeking a population science researcher at the Professor (tenured) level, with specialties in epidemiology (cancer or other diseases), implementation science, survivorship, nutrition, and computational sciences.
The successful candidate will hold a doctorate degree or equivalent, and have relevant research training and experiences. We seek academic researchers who can contribute immediately, as evidenced by a history of peer-reviewed funding and publications. Preference will be given to the candidate who has demonstrated prior leadership and mentoring skills and have engaged in successful collaborative, multidisciplinary research.
Job Duties
- Identifying and forming decisions on effective programs, policies, and practices for preventing and reducing tobacco and substance use, and other risky behaviors, especially among vulnerable and special populations.
- Examining how regulatory actions affect the trajectories and transitions from experimentation to regular substance use, with a focus on a longitudinal characterization of product preference and how these products influence use patterns.
- Researching significant knowledge gap on product switching/demand sensitivity of alternative and emerging tobacco products (e.g., electronic cigarette) to changes in the price of conventional cigarettes.
- Use participatory and innovative community-based action research to engage knowledge users and build capacity to address the problem of substance use among vulnerable communities.
