Visiting Assistant Professor, Art History. The Art and Art History department at Colgate University invites applications for a one-year visiting assistant professor position, with the possibility of a second year, in Asian art. Candidates with a field of specialization in East Asia, South Asia or Western Asia, including Islamic cultures, are encouraged to apply. Ability to teach pre-modern courses on any of those regions is required. Completion of the Ph.D. is expected prior to, or shortly after, the date of hire. Colgate is planning for an in-person fall, although candidates should be prepared to pivot in case remote teaching is required by the pandemic.

Our department combines art history and studio art. The successful candidate will teach a five-course load in their regional, cultural, or otherwise defined area of expertise, at the introductory and advanced levels. Responsibilities could also include senior thesis advising. An interest in contributing to our Architecture and / or Museum Studies programs is also welcome.
