The Associate Athletics Director for Development is responsible for all intercollegiate athletics fundraising. The successful candidate will provide primary leadership for the athletics major gift fundraising efforts, including identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of prospects and donors. This position will report to the Vice Chancellor for Development and Alumni Affairs/Executive Director of the University of Chattanooga Foundation and aid in planning, creating and managing all fundraising to support the vision of the Vice Chancellor/Director of Athletics.

This position will be tasked with increasing philanthropy to support intercollegiate athletics and will be responsible for supervision of the two Associate Directors of the Mocs Club as well as managing a portfolio of 75 - 100 donors. The expectation will be for the Associate AD to complete a minimum of 200 face-to-face visits with donors, prospects, alumni and friends.

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage all aspects of athletic fundraising including the development of an annual plan for philanthropic support of intercollegiate athletics
  • Supervise the two Associate Directors of the Mocs Club
  • Serve as major gift officer responsible for identifying, cultivating, and securing private support and resources to strengthen our athletics program, campus, university and our stakeholder’s relationship with our department
  • Ability to articulate UTC athletics’ needs, values and ambitions through excellent informal and formal communications, including written proposals
  • Coordinate athletic planned giving, foundation giving and corporate charitable giving in cooperation with other UTC development and alumni staff
  • As assigned attend and provide appropriate staff support at athletic-related events, home and selected away games, championships and/or tournaments
  • Manage or assist in athletics focused special events for fundraising and stewardship
  • Provide stewardship of donors to the athletics program
  • Assist with the development and implementation of both short and long-term plan for growth of entire athletics fundraising efforts


​​​​​​​ This is a full-time position with evenings and weekend hours required. Compensation competitive and commensurate with education and experience.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s preferred
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in managing and implementing fundraising initiatives including, but not limited to: major gifts, volunteer management, and special events
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with NCAA rules and regulations, particularly those impacting representatives of institutions athletic interests
  • Fundraising database experience preferred
  • Must demonstrate ability to work on projects independently as well as within a team and prioritize projects
  • Provide and demonstrate track record of securing major gifts
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of Paciolan and Ellucian software preferred
