The School of Theatre & Dance in the Kathrine G. McGovern College of the Arts at the University of Houston is now accepting applications for a nine-month post-graduate fellowship for the 2021-2022 academic year. Successful candidates will teach a 1/1 course load, vigorously pursue research/creative activity and serve as a sound designer and/or sound design mentor to students for all School of Theatre & Dance productions.

This fellowship is open to theatrical sound designers, composers, and audio engineers who have received their MFA within the past five years. Applicants with secondary creative/scholarly interests in media design and/or projections, or other interdisciplinary interests are encouraged to apply. Though not required, further consideration will be given to candidates with experience in music and music composition.

The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Center for the Arts (CWMCA) and the School of Theatre & Dance can provide professional associations to connect the Fellow with Houston's vibrant art community. The Sound Design Fellow will be part of a cohort that meets regularly and includes the other CWMCA Fellows (in Fine Arts and Contemporary Art Curating) and the Director of the CWMCA. Cross disciplinary collaborations among these Fellows is strongly desired.

Applicants should outline their creative goals during the next five years and describe how this residency will facilitate the accomplishment of these objectives. Candidates should also articulate how these interests will contribute to the quality of education, performance, and future success of the School of Theatre and Dance and the College of the Arts.
