Senior Director, Counseling and Psychological Services

Purdue University is currently searching for a Senior Director, Counseling and Psychological Services. This leader will provide strategic leadership for Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), including clinical services, psychiatry, professional training, as well as outreach and education components of a comprehensive counseling and psychological services organization for all students (undergraduate, graduate, and professional). This role will provide leadership in implementing innovation of service and delivery methods to respond to changing needs of students and the community. Responsibilities also include Formulating, organizing, and administering policy for all phases of CAPS operations, including the structure of services, personnel selection, supervision and evaluation, budgetary functions, clinical record retention and maintenance, and mental health insurance.

 Ensures the CAPS team provides direct services to students, including crisis intervention, consultation, assessment, individual and group therapy, case management, and referral while focused on addressing a diverse student population's needs. Develop long and short-range objectives and metrics consistent with CAPS strategic plan. Supervise clinical staff and conducts group outreach to student groups, new students, parents, and other workshop presentations. Coordinate the development and implementation of a promotion and marketing plan for CAPS services and programs, including the development of on-line resources, technology enhancements, and website. Enhance relationships and foster partnerships with a broad base of campus and community stakeholders that result in improved delivery of services and programs that benefit students with a broad focus on mental wellness and wellbeing. Conduct outreach and consultation as appropriate.

Collaborate with Student Life, Purdue University Student Health Center (PUSH), Recreation and Wellness, Colleges/Schools, and other faculty and staff to develop and deliver services for the University community. Create and maintain a student-centered environment at CAPS that embrace forward-thinking strategies to anticipate and meet the mental health and wellbeing needs of a diverse student community.

Required:

• Ph.D. or Doctor of Psychology (PsyD)
• Six years of experience with demonstrated administrative and leadership experience
• Must be licensed, or immediately license eligibility as a psychologist in the State of Indiana
• Strong generalist therapy skills
• Ability to evaluate and diagnose clients
• Confidentiality and adherence to ethical practices
• Ability to manage clinical practitioners, a large complex department, and budget.
• Ability to direct activities and develop strategies to achieve impactful results
• Ability to develop innovative processes and systems using significant conceptualization, reasoning, and interpretation skill
• Ability to communicate with diverse populations, students, departments, and constituents
• Ability to influence and persuade others to accept new concepts, practices, and approaches

Preferred:

• Experience in university counseling centers
