Job Summary:
The Psychology Department at Furman University announces a one-year position at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor to begin August, 2021, with the potential for renewal.

Job Description:

Qualified candidates must be able to teach Introduction to Psychology, Research Methods and Statistics, and an intermediate-level course in their area of training and expertise. Special consideration will be given to candidates who can teach one of our existing intermediate-level courses such as social psychology, industrial/organizational psychology, adulthood and aging, or psychology of gender. The teaching load is five courses per year divided over two semesters. A Ph.D. by appointment date and teaching experience are required.

The successful candidate will have the ability to work with historically underrepresented students, including students of color, and be committed to assisting the university in its continuing efforts to become a model of inclusive excellence.

The successful candidate will join a growing psychology department which currently includes 10 tenure-track faculty and 2 non-tenure track faculty. Our students enjoy a rigorous educational experience along with opportunities for impactful internships and research, guided by close faculty mentorship. The candidate must be committed to exemplary teaching and will also have the opportunity to conduct research in collaboration with undergraduates. These efforts are eligible for the full support of all departmental and university resources.
